Creating homes and places where people want to live

Nottingham City Homes were the first organisation in the country to introduce the award-winning Energiesprong programme.

The Energiesprong approach, pioneered in the Netherlands, upgrades a home with innovative energy-saving and energy-generating measures, including new highly insulated outside walls and windows, a solar roof, and a state of the art heating system. The end result is homes that are almost net-zero carbon.

Starting as a pilot in Sneinton, ten of our older hard-to-heat houses were completely retrofitted, with the support of a European Regional Development Fund grant of £5m.

Due to the success of the project, we have been awarded further grant funding to extend the scheme to flats in the Clifton area.

Through this project we will improve the homes of our tenants and leaseholders, as well as creating new local employment and training opportunities.
