There are some great ways to get out and about in your local area, meet new people and help improve your neighbourhood.
Become a Street or Block Champion
Do you want to improve your street or block? We're looking for people who want to work with us to improve the places where they live by becoming a Street or Block champion. Click here to find out more.
Join a Tenants’ and Residents’ Association (TRA)
TRAs arrange social events, look at issues affecting their area, and help make changes for the better. If your area doesn’t have a TRA, talk to us about setting one up – you can apply for a grant from us to help you with the costs of setting it and developing it.
Become an ACE Inspector
ACE Inspectors take part in practical reviews of the services that we provide, and make recommendations for us to act upon.
Set up your own community group
You can apply for a grant from us to help you with the costs of setting up the group, or the costs of developing it.
Become a Volunteer Mediator
Help tenants and leaseholders take ownership of their dispute and help them to find a solution they can all agree on. Community issues such as noise, parking, boundary disputes and pet nuisance can all be resolved with mediation. All parties who agree to participate do so because they want to find a resolution. Mediators often work in pairs but also individually. There’s an initial 40 hours of training, then you’ll mediate around five cases a year. Find out more about becoming a volunteer mediator.
Tell us how you’d like to help improve your neighbourhood by calling 0115 746 9100, emailing us, or texting INVOLVE and your name to 80800 so we can call you back for free.
