Time to Change is a growing social movement aimed at changing how we all think and act about mental health, and Nottingham City Homes (NCH) has now signed up to a charter that aims to change the way employees think and act about mental health.
The social housing organisation wants to help break the silence and end the stigma around mental health, and so has signed the Time to Change Employer Pledge.
Time to Change is run by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, and is the biggest programme in England challenging mental health stigma and discrimination.
Nick Murphy, Chief Executive at Nottingham City Homes, said: “One in four people in the general population experiences a mental health problem at some point in their lives – and nine in ten of those who have experienced a mental health problem will have faced negative treatment from others as a result.
“We already work with employees and residents alike to reduce mental health discrimination and stigma, and signing the Pledge will allow us to work with Time to Change to bring all of our activities together and have even more impact.
“Together, we will continue to take action to reduce mental health stigma in the workplace and beyond.”
