Our neighbourhood promise

Our neighbourhood promise

Where people live isn’t only about a home – it’s about a neighbourhood, a community. Our neighbourhood promise covers involvement in neighbourhoods, partnership working and the physical appearance of neighbourhoods, blocks of flats and independent living schemes.

In terms of involvement, we will:

  • Give opportunities for involvement in shaping services to benefit  neighbourhoods
  • Provide contact details for staff working in neighbourhoods
  • Provide you with information on community groups and networks in your neighbourhood
  • Provide involvement activities for tenants and leaseholders of all ages and backgrounds
  • Support your neighbourhood to have one or more active Tenant and Resident Associations or community groups
  • Support  your Tenant and Resident Associations or community group to set up and deliver local projects
  • Work with you to deliver environmental improvement projects
  • Provide  you with training through our Tenant Academy
  • Attend Area Committee meetings to inform you of how we are performing and consult with you on any changes to services
When working in partnership we will:

  • Actively participate in regular ward walks with the City Council in your neighbourhood
  • Meet monthly with other agencies working in your community to work together effectively on your local priorities
  • Work with our partners to deliver at least one week of action per Neighbourhood per year
  • Work with local schools and young people on projects to improve your neighbourhood
  • Support local social enterprises in your neighbourhood
  • Support tenants into training, apprenticeships and employment through our Tenants Academy
  • Work with partners to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour in your neighbourhood
  • Work with the City Council and other partners to identify and support Troubled Families and secure successful outcomes through early intervention

When improving the look of your neighbourhood we will:

  • Ensure your neighbourhood is clean, free from graffiti and fly-tipping
  • Report all abandoned vehicles for removal within 24 hours
  • Remove all offensive graffiti within 24 hours and non-offensive graffiti within five working days
  • Inspect all garage sites quarterly to ensure they are well maintained and secure
  • Ensure your neighbourhood is free from dog fouling
  • Ensure all grassed areas and shrubs are maintained to a high standard
  • Ensure all tenants are looking after their homes and gardens, and complying with their tenancy conditions
  • Ensure communal areas are clean and well maintained
  • Ensure bin rooms are kept clean and are regularly emptied
  • Ask tenants to inspect the estates we manage and assess our performance against the 4* standard.

Tenant and leaseholder responsibilities

We expect all tenants and leaseholders to...

  • Be a responsible neighbour
  • Look after your home and garden
  • If you have a pet, be responsible for its behaviour and well being
  • Take full advantage of the opportunities to get involved
